Working hard

Today was the first day for all 10 Amigos and my new first assistant. It was a little nuts this morning with all these new employees on an aeration day.

It's nice to have some guys here. Getting a ton done now that we aren't limited to a skeleton crew.

Working on cart path edges on 5, fan install, sod prep, and bunker work are just a few projects that we are going to work on in the next couple days.

Aeration

Punching and top dressing greens today. Morning rain got us started a little late. Just using a smaller solid tine so they should be rolling pretty good this week.

We put down Calcium, fast and slow release potassium and magnesium while we have holes in them. This is the time to help replace some of the nutrients that we have lost over this wet winter.

This is the first time the irrigation system has been fired up since November. Duff was pumped to see irrigation heads again.

Drain 14

We dug up the BMP on 14 and got it draining. There was an old roll of packing tape stuck in the out fall clogging everything up. What a muddy mess.

We have a few area that we are in need of some sod work. Here, 3 tee, and a few others. Once it dries down enough to prep for sod, we will get a truck load in and start sodding.

Spraying bunkers

Started spraying bunkers yesterday. We put some blue due in there to see where we have been. It will wash away with the first rainfall. We are finally caught up on all the spraying after our wet winter.

Bunkers and stuff

There isn't a whole lot of sand left in the bunker on 16 green. This winter with the high winds, a lot of the sand blew out of the bunker. We need it to dry down tomorrow so we can get it all picked up.

It's still really wet and we have a lot of spraying and work to get caught up on. The course is weedy in some spots...the spots that we have left to spray are especially bad. It's just been an impossible winter to get all the spraying done. This wet weather has been good for the poa and bad for production. I'm hoping to get some dry weather this week so we can really get humping.

Short term list is:
1.) Fix irrigation main line 3 tee. Have to get this done ASAP to start up irrigation system. Just got parts in today.
2.) Finish spraying. Lot of poa out there.
3.) Fan install 11 and 3.
4.) Bunker work.
5.) Bunker work.
6.) Bunker work.
7.) Pray for no more rain so all our bunker work doesn't get ruined again.
8.) More bunker work.

Bunkers

Working on getting bunkers fixed up today. Got 4-12 done today. It's tough getting them done in a timely fashion this time of year. We still have a small staff until the amigos get here.  There is only 7 if us this time of year. We are working on getting a few more full time guys hired. When you have to mow greens, change cups, setup, etc, that left 1 guy to work on the bunkers this morning, and we had 4 guys working on it after lunch. Working on stuff like this in the afternoon isn't near as productive when you have to work in play.

Hopefully we don't get much rain tomorrow and we can knock some more out on Sunday and Monday.

Can't wait for the guys to get here. My list is getting really long.

Cleaning up

Here is the pic of the leaf vac that we bought from salvage and got it up and running. It works great to pick up at those sweetgum balls. We are slowly getting things cleaned up. It's finally starting to dry up enough to get some equipment out on the course.

We are also working on finishing the drain on 15 fairway.

We have a long list of stuff to do that continues to grow every day. We have a very limited staff right now until the amigos get here.  We are currently trying to hire more staff, but are local pool is pretty limited.
