Lazy

Laying down on the job when everyone is on a mower trying to get caught up.

Mowing

Finally getting somewhat caught up on mowing this week. Only have a couple more holes to finish mowing rough and all the short grass has been cut this week.

Greens

Mowed greens for the first time after aeration yesterday and rolled greens today. They are coming in good and should be completely healed in another week or so.

Winter wear

Here is a good example of winter wear on bermudagrass and why it is important to limit cart traffic in the off season. You can see a line of brown grass in front of the practice tee where everyone hits driver while on the mats.

Bunkers

The bunkers will get raked tomorrow. As stated in the earlier post we are spread pretty thin with all the stuff we need to get done this time of year. It's important (as always) to rake the bunkers out behind yourself because we just can't get to them with any frequency until the amigos get here.

Bermuda growth

We are pretty far behind on the golf course right now due to the warm spring. The grass has greened up a little earlier than usual, but I've never seen it start growing this early. We usually don't need to start mowing until the middle of April. That being said, we have started mowing what we can while still trying to get greens aerated, pre-emerg down, and spraying herbicides for the spring weeds. The Amigos get here in another week and a half - once they get here we will be able to quickly get the course all cleaned up and mown down. Until then we are spread thin and will do the best we can to keep up.

Aeration.

We are finishing aeration on the greens today. This will be the only time this year we aerate because of the greens project.

I closed the spacing and ran the deep tine Verti-drain over the greens to make sure we hit them good and make sure we can keep them healthy all the way up to the start of construction.

Aeration is one of the most labor intensive tasks that we have to do on the golf course. It takes a lot of time and hard work, but is something that is essential to keep bentgrass alive in our climate.
