Poa in greens
Here is a picture of some of the poa in the greens. The growth regulation program we are on has done a good job suppressing the seed heads, but I have seen a little breakthrough. The poa should be thriving for another couple of weeks but then settling down once the nighttime temp rise.
Spring Dead Spot
Here is a picture of #18 fairway with some spring dead spot patches. The S.D.S. was not as bad this year as in years past but a few fairways did have some. We will be aerating and fertilizing these worst areas and with a little heat they should be grown in once the Bermuda really starts growing.
PG2
Attached is the picture of PG2 after aeration and topdressing. We are hand brushing in the topdressing to avoid getting equipment on this green. It should be ready to open the last week in March.

PG2
We aerated PG2 this morning. I wanted to get it done a little earlier than the others to give it time to recover. Once it it recovered and grown in I will open it. We are taking a little more time with opening this one to make sure it is good and strong - I'm sure it will see its fair share of traffic this summer with the rest of the greens being closed.
Once all the new greens are done, we probably will not do this spring aeration on the new greens. There will be no organic matter build up because of the new mix. This green still has organic matter because we did not remove the mix and re-build it - it was planted on the existing mix.

Greens
Rolled greens yesterday. They are rolling pretty good right now. This is the time of year that the poa is really booming, but we are managing it with growth regulators and vertical mowing and grooming. This time of year it always looks like there is a ton of poa in the greens, until the bent wakes up and starts to get going. Once we get into the teeth of the growing season, the bent will start growing a little more aggressive and the poa will not be as noticeable.

Course conditions.
This was a picture taken yesterday just as the golf course was starting to dry out enough to get some equipment out on the course. That was followed by a half inch of rain this morning and we are back to the sloppy conditions.
I did get about 17 acres of rough sprayed before the rain. We are spraying for all the poa and spring weeds that are popping up.

Wet course
The course is very wet right now. It have been a difficult winter to keep the course clean of weeds. All of the rain has kept the course wet, making it difficult to get the sprayers out on the golf course. We have all the priority stuff (tees, fairways and approaches) pretty clean, but the rough is not near as clean as I would like. As soon as it dries out the sprayers will be rolling to get everything cleaned up.
We are getting into the time of year where the course will start drying faster, making it a little easier to get equipment on the grass.
