Bermuda collars

My patience lasted about 3 weeks with the Bermuda around greens. I know we haven't  had the best Bermuda growing weather but I can't stand to look at a aera like this just off the green. Some of the thin bermuda would have come back, but no sense in waiting. We are sodding some of the worst spots.  Most look ok but some needed some love. We finished 16, 15, 14, 12 today and will knock out a few more tomorrow morning. Finished product is great. Really puts a sharp look to the hole.
This recent warmer, more humid weather has helped move the Bermuda a little. It's been a slow spring thus far.  The nighttime lows are the key. If we can get those into the 60's you will probably start seeing the rough start filling in. Now let's hope for a little rain!

Bermuda

We have been brushing and working some of the bermuda around the greens that isn't looking so hot.  Its working good.  There's more green down there than I thought. It removed all the sand and hard areas and gives the grass some air. Most of the stuff around the greens will come back. We'll have to do a little sodding but not too bad. It will turn....remember, it's still April!  Still very early and keep in mind that we did have a gew nights in the 20's within the last few weeks. We need nights in the 50's-60's to get the bermuda awake.

Cold mornings.

Looks like we have seen the last of thises mornings for a little while. Mid to high 80's for the next couple of days. That should help the bermuda hreen up and the greens recover.

AND THE BEST PART...... The amigos get here this afternoon. We will get some stuff done this week!

Smooth em out

Working on trying to take some of the aeration bumpyness out of them. Rented an asphalt roller and got them all done today.

The weather is still staying really cool every night. Way too cool for the bent to start growing....and growth is what you need for recovery. Looks like it will be a while until we see some warmer temps.

Sod prep and greens

We prepped for some sod around the putting green today. There was some common bermuda and some bentgrass in the zoysia. We cut it out and will replace tomorrow. This will give it a clean edge and keep that common from creeping into the green.

The greens and the bermuda grass has been slow going with these recent cold nights. The bermuda is orange and the greens haven't even thought about starting to recover after an aeration. It's important not to overreact and throw a bunch of fert this time of year to force growth.  That would have serious negative impacts once it does warm up. The thing to do is just leave them alone and wait for mother nature to start cooperating.
